For thirty years Boris Alexander has worked across painting, photography, film and fashion under a single obsession: the aestheticisation of darkness. L’appel du vide, the call of the void, is the urge to jump when you stand at the edge. He turns it on himself, mining his own trauma, and forces people to look at what they have decided is disturbed or broken, then makes it beautiful past the point they can’t dismiss it.
Durante los últimos treinta años, Boris Alexander ha trabajado entre la pintura, la fotografía, el cine y la moda, guiado por una única obsesión: la estetización de la oscuridad.
L’appel du vide, la llamada del vacío, es ese impulso de saltar cuando uno se encuentra al borde del abismo. Boris dirige ese impulso hacia sí mismo, excavando en su propio trauma, y obliga al espectador a mirar aquello que ha decidido considerar perturbado o roto, para convertirlo en una belleza imposible de ignorar.
